Kobe goes for 61

In true superstar fashion Kobe Bryant had the game of his career (well, it would have been for anyone else) when the Lakers' needed it most. Less than a week after Andrew Bynum left with an injury Kobe goes for 61 including a flawless 20-20 effort at the free throw line. There has been a lot of talk about Lebron James and his play at the Garden, but it's Kobe who now holds the record for points in a game. I think that with this game Kobe reclaimed his spot as the best player in the league. Lebron might get there, but he isn't there yet. Most importantly for Bryant, tonight and in his 81 point outburst, the Lakers won. Historically a lot of the highest single game point performances resulted in poor team play and a loss for the squad, but Kobe has turned that around. Bynum went down, but Kobe and the Lakers are not going anywhere.
